FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

University of Wisconsin-Stout Rolls Out StrandVision Digital Signage

MENOMONIE, Wis.Oct. 22, 2009 – The University of Wisconsin-Stout has installed a digital signage software system from StrandVision LLC in its Millennium Hall technology services building.

The signage, displayed on 52-inch digital monitors, is in the building's two main lobbies. It carries announcements, lab and help desk hours, a building directory and weather with Doppler radar, as well as a special Internet-based technology news feed.

The Learning & Information Technology staff selected StrandVision. "The decision was based on StrandVision's Software as a Service (SaaS) model that minimizes hardware and networking investments and overhead, as well as day-to-day computer security and maintenance tasks," said Mike Strand, StrandVision founder and CEO.

The system is hosted by StrandVision, and the pages are delivered directly to the UW-Stout digital signage system over the Internet.

NEWS: DisplayPort Extreme Fiber Optic Extenders.

New DisplayPort Extreme Solutions from Gefen Deliver High Resolution Video to Extended Displays Using Pre-Terminated Fiber Optic Cables

CHATSWORTH, CA – Connectivity solutions provider Gefen today announced the availability of several new DisplayPort Extreme cable solutions. Timed to match the rapid adoption of the new interface, which is predicted to outpace traditional interfaces leading up to 2013, Gefen's DisplayPort Extreme extenders come in conveniently pre-terminated lengths of 75 (23m), 100 (30m), 150 (45m), 210 (64m) and 300 feet (91m).

Without using one of these solutions, users are limited to a 50 foot (15m) distance between computer and display. For many audio/video professionals creating edit bays or working with digital signage displays, this 50 foot distance is too limited.

"Gefen's new DisplayPort Extreme cables enable high quality audio and video to be extended simply over one cable, with an impeccable remote performance," said Hagai Gefen, president and CEO, Gefen Inc. "Without the DisplayPort Extreme solutions, computer users are limited to a fraction of the distance available."

Equipped on both ends with DisplayPort connectivity, these cables offer plug and play operability, using power to propel high resolution video with audio up to 300 feet in distance. Both single or dual link video modes are supported up to 2560x1600 resolutions.

The use of fiber optic components guarantees any resolution can be delivered in a pure digital format without compromising signal integrity. HDCP compliance is supported for those integrating home entertainment video.

Press Release: The Digital Signage Connections Tour

At The Digital Signage Show, November 10-11. 2009, many programs have been organized and implemented to increase the benefits that attendees will receive by attending.

One of these new programs is The Digital Signage Connections Tours, sponsored by Magenta Research.  These tours will stop at many booths throughout the exhibit floor, to allow attendees to better understand the complexities of a digital signage deployment and schedule private appointments with those organizations that can help them deploy successfully.

Below is the press release and description about the tour.  If you have questions please feel free to contact me.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

MAGENTA RESEARCH TO HOST 'DIGITAL SIGNAGE CONNECTION TOUR' AT YEAR-END INDUSTRY CONFERENCE IN NEW YORK

Organizers for The Digital Signage Show Partner with Magenta Research to Add New Educational Program to Event Roster

October 7, 2009 – New Milford, CT – Magenta Research announced today they are hosting The Digital Signage Connections Tour at The Digital Signage Show, from November 10–11, 2009 at the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center in New York City.

The Digital Signage Connections Tour is an all-inclusive, hands-on educational tour that provides attendees with a private, detailed analysis and understanding of what components are necessary to complete a successful digital signage/digital out-of-home deployment.  This free tour will provide an overview of the digital signage supply chain path from start to finish; outlining how each element factors into the process and integrates into the successful deployment of digital signage/digital out-of-home media.

"Magenta Research is thrilled to deliver this type of program to attendees at The Digital Signage Show," said Bob Michaels, President of Magenta Research. "What better way to illustrate all the important elements involved when planning a deployment than by bringing venues and brands to the major players, who are all a short walk away on the floor? This method allows us to utilize our experiences to ensure that others succeed right out of the gate."

"Understanding the nuances between these components and effectively piecing them together to create successful digital signage or digital out-of-home deployments can be a daunting task," explains Lawrence Dvorchik, General Manager of The Digital Signage Show.  "We are firm believers in sharing as much of the expertise gained by leading deployers as possible so our attendees can make informed decisions. These tours are another way we can provide this education and help our attendees gain a much stronger understanding of the complexities involved than they might on their own."

The Digital Signage Connections Tour is a complimentary feature offered to all interested attendees during both days of The Digital Signage Show's New York conference. Registration and additional details are available online at: http://www.thedigitalsignageshow.com/specialevents.asp.
